Event: Get Ready, Get Set, Get Fit 5K

It’s that time again and the Baltimore County Department of Aging needs your support in its annual fundraiser for fitness programming.

Registration is open for the 11th Annual 2017 Get Ready! Get Set! Get Fit! 5K Run-Walk and 1 Mile Walk For All Ages, which will be held Sept. 17, 2017 on the campus of CCBC Essex. The event, which is perfect for novice runners, starts at 8 a.m. and all roads on campus will be closed at that time. Receive a $5 discount through Aug. 14.  Please share, post, and email these attachments to your members. Our mission is to support seniors to Live Long and Live Well by helping them to “Reimagine Aging” – this year’s theme.

Participants receive a complimentary long-sleeved T-shirt (guaranteed up to the first 1,200 registered, sizes not guaranteed), water on the course and post-race refreshments. Trophies will be awarded for largest team, most money raised by an individual and most money raised by a team.  Money raised goes to support senior fitness programming at the BCDA.

Day of the race registration opens at 6:30 a.m., with health and fitness screenings. A swag bag with special gifts will be given to the first 200 onsite participants. The 5K race, which is professionally managed by Charm City Run, attracts participants of all ages who run and walk the course. Medals are given for the fastest three male and female 5K finishers overall, as well as the top three male and female runners in all age categories. The 1-Mile Fun Walk is perfect for our younger and older participants. Door prizes, including a $500 Fitness Pays Grand Prize sponsored by Van Dyke and Bacon Shoes, will be awarded (must be present to win).
