2018 Track Series

Hello track stars!

Summer is here and so begins the BRRC Summer Track Series.  We are excited to be returning to Goucher College as our host for our 2018 summer schedule which also includes the Meet of Miles.

Registration for track meets begins at 5:45 PM at the track; events begin at 6:30 PM.  Waivers must be signed by all participants and/or parents of runners under 18 years of age.   Events and their order are posted on our website.

We are anticipating continued interest in our youth runners—from tots and toddlers (ages 5 and under) through junior sprinters (ages 6-12).  A new category of junior sprinters ages 6-8 will participate in the 100 M while older junior sprinters ages 9-12 will participate in the 200 M.

Also new this year is the implementation of a weather management strategy to address safety concerns and to improve communications in advance of our meets.  Any changes, cancellations or postponements due to foreseeable weather conditions will be determined by 4 PM on the day of each meet and will be publicized via social media—Twitter, Facebook, and the brrc website-- by 4:30 PM.  This should provide ample time for anyone participating or volunteering to make their own schedule adjustments.

No notifications will mean the meets are still on.

Weather Advisory:  Summer weather  can be unpredictable with high temperatures and humidity as well as threatening storms.  Our first concern is for our runners’ safety.  We will be monitoring weather conditions for our events and any decision to postpone or cancel our events will be made by 4 PM on the eve of our meets.  Please check in after that time for an update:  Twitter, Facebook, and will have updates posted.  If storms should prevail after that time and/or during our meets, an on the spot postponement or cancellation may be necessary.  Please understand that we want to provide the safest experience for everyone and we thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.

Volunteer opportunities:  If you would like to volunteer to work any of the track meets, please contact Christy St.Clair:  Come join the fun of giving!

SNOWBALLS--don’t forget our summer tradition--Snowball Night is July 9 this year.  Mr. Bailey and Mr. Gene are back again providing this refreshing treat for everyone!

Hope to see you at the track!
