GPS Cross Country 5 Miler
- Series participants are required to complete five of the eight races and volunteer at a 2012 BRRC event in order to be complete the series.
- Volunteer commitment must be made in advance of an event by contacting the Race Director or event coordinator. While showing up race morning is helpful and appreciated, advance notice helps Race Directors determine if an event can be safely staged. Participants who do not see their volunteer commitment credited in the 2012 GPS Standings are responsible for notifying BRRCInfo@gmail.com.
- If a participant runs more than five races, only the best five performances are used to calculate the series score. Additional GPS races may be used to break ties as specified below.
- Participants MUST RUN FOR BRRC at the MDRRCA Club Challenge to count the race toward the Grand Prix Series. To score GPS points at the Survivor 7, participants must follow procedures to be announced at brrc.com to notify the Club before the race.
- To score GPS points at a race a participant must be a club member as of that race. Example: If a non-member runs the first two races and after the second race decides to join the BRRC, only his or her performance in the next five races will be counted in the final standings.
- To be eligible for series awards a participants membership must be current at the completion of the
series. Members whose membership is expired at the end of the series will have their scores "roll down" like members who do not complete the series.
- A participants age group will be determined by their age as of his or her first point scoring race. Example: A participant runs the first series race and he or she is 34 years old, the following week they turn 35. This person has the option of dropping the first series race and competing in the 35 to 39 category or staying in the 20 - 34 year group. This decision must be made in writing the first race after entering a new age category. In other words you cant wait until the end of the season to see which category you would finish higher in.
- Tie breaking will only be done at the completion of the series, and only to determine category prize winners. Ties will be broken by application of the following rules, in the order they are presented.
- In the event that competitors have the same series score at the end of the series, the higher series place goes to the competitor who won more head-to-head races among all GPS races the tied competitors finished.
- If the preceding criteria does not break the tie, the overall place of each competitor among all the GPS races the tied competitors finished is summed. The higher series place goes to the competitor with the lowest sum.
- If the preceding criteria does not break the tie, the higher series place goes to the competitor who finished more GPS races.
- If the preceding criteria does not break the tie, BRRC recognizes the competitors as tied for the year and issues multiple awards for the same place.
- Current standings are updated on the BRRC website. These standings will reflect all club members participating in the series, even though not all will complete the series. If a member does not complete the series his or her scores in each individual race will "roll down" to the persons in that race who completed the series. For example, if an age group winner at a GPS race does not complete the series, a score of 1 will be assigned to the series finisher in that age group in that race who finished highest.
- All participants completing five GPS races will receive a Grand Prix Series T-shirt after the series is complete.
